A delightful baked casserole combining the classic flavors of French toast, perfect for breakfast or brunch gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread (preferably stale or day-old)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Butter for greasing
  • Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and spread them evenly in the baking dish.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour the mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Let it sit for about 20 minutes to soak in.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  6. Let cool slightly, then serve warm with maple syrup.
