This banana bread is tender, sweet, and filled with childhood nostalgia. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Stir in melted butter, then add sugar and mix well.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in another bowl.
  6. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Fold in chopped nuts if desired.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and tap to remove air bubbles.
  9. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Notes

For extra moist banana bread, use very ripe bananas. If using frozen bananas, thaw and drain any excess liquid before mashing.
