A rich and moist cake soaked in three types of milk, topped with whipped cream and garnished with fresh fruit.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for the cream topping)
  • Fresh fruit or maraschino cherries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Beat the eggs and sugar on high speed until thick and pale. Add vanilla and mix until combined.
  4. Incorporate the flour mixture gradually, mixing just until blended.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool the cake in the pan.
  7. Prepare the milk mixture by whisking together evaporated milk, condensed milk, and whole milk.
  8. Soak the cooled cake by poking holes with a fork and pouring the milk mixture over it.
  9. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Spread over the cake.
  10. Garnish with fresh fruit or cherries before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, let the cake soak overnight. Substitute coconut milk for a dairy-free version.
