A nostalgic and delightful Sourdough French Toast with a creamy custard and crispy exterior, perfect for weekend mornings.

  • 4 slices of sourdough bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt to taste
  • Butter or oil for cooking
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Fresh fruit for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  2. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a little butter or oil.
  3. Dip each slice of sourdough bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
  4. Place the soaked bread onto the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Serve hot, topped with maple syrup and fresh fruit if desired.

Notes

For best results, use thick slices of sourdough bread to prevent sogginess. This recipe can also be customized with various toppings.
