Deliciously soft and cinnamon-flavored cookies that are a classic favorite for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (for rolling)
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cream together the butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  4. Mix in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine the remaining sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  6. Shape the dough into small balls, then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Place the balls on ungreased baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned.
  9. Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

To keep your snickerdoodles fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
