A comforting dish of layered scalloped potatoes, creamy goodness, tender ham, and melty cheese, perfect for gatherings and cozy dinners.

  • 2 pounds potatoes, sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a large baking dish with a bit of butter or cooking spray.
  3. Begin by fanning out half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle half of the diced ham and chopped onion evenly over the potatoes.
  5. Follow up by layering half of the shredded cheese over the ham and onion. Then season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  6. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, ham, onion, cheese, and seasonings.
  7. Whisk together the heavy cream and milk until well combined.
  8. Pour the cream and milk mixture evenly over the layered ingredients.
  9. Dot the top of your layered dish with small pieces of butter.
  10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
  11. Carefully remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 20-30 minutes.
  12. Let the dish rest for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use a mandoline for evenly sliced potatoes. You can prepare this dish a day in advance up to the baking step.
