A quick and delightful family dinner featuring tender chicken thighs in a homemade teriyaki sauce that’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Honey or Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Fresh Ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Begin by patting the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned chicken thighs. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium. Add minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, sautéing for about 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, rice vinegar, and water. Stir well to combine.
  5. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and add it to the simmering sauce while stirring.
  6. Return the sautéed chicken to the skillet, coating it well with the teriyaki sauce. Cook together for another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and serve the teriyaki chicken over rice or with steamed vegetables.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness of the sauce according to your taste. Don’t overcrowd the pan when sautéing the chicken for better results.
