A savory breakfast casserole combining eggs, cheese, and sausage with toast, baked to golden perfection. Perfect for feeding a crowd or a special morning treat.

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup cooked sausage, crumbled
  • 2 cups bread cubes (stale or toasted)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl.
  3. Grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
  4. Layer the bread cubes in the bottom of the dish, followed by the crumbled sausage, shredded cheese, chopped onion, and bell pepper.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the layered ingredients, ensuring everything is well-coated.
  6. Let the strata sit for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight.
  7. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes, until the egg is set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.
