These Delicious Donut Muffins are a delightful hybrid that offers the sweetness of a donut and the ease of a muffin, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter (for dipping)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 34 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  3. Melt the butter and allow it to cool slightly. Then, whisk in the milk, egg, and vanilla until combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
  5. Fill each muffin tin about 2/3 full with the batter.
  6. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Brush with melted butter, then roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Combine powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and salt in a bowl until smooth for glazing.

Notes

These muffins can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or up to a week in the fridge. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
