A simple yet soulful recipe for pulled pork sandwiches that are bursting with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lbs pork shoulder or pork butt
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite kind)
  • 8 slices white bread or hamburger buns
  • 1 cup coleslaw (optional, but highly recommended)
  • 1/2 cup pickles (optional for a zing)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Season the pork: Generously season the pork shoulder with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Add to slow cooker: Lovingly place the seasoned pork into your slow cooker and pour in the barbecue sauce.
  3. Slow cook to perfection: Set your slow cooker to low and let the pork cook for 8-10 hours.
  4. Shred the pork: Carefully remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it into bite-sized pieces using two forks.
  5. Mix in more sauce: For extra sauciness, mix the shredded pork with more barbecue sauce to taste.
  6. Assemble your sandwiches: Serve the shredded pork on white bread or hamburger buns, topped with coleslaw and pickles if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider searing the pork before slow cooking and experiment with different barbecue sauces.
