Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Optional: dash of hot sauce
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter, cubed
  • â…” cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup diced dill pickles
  • Optional: ¼ cup crumbled bacon
  • â…“ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • A few dashes of hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef along with the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until browned and the onions are translucent, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  2. Flavor It Up: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, yellow mustard, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. If desired, add a dash of hot sauce. Mix well and remove from heat.
  3. Prepare the Crust: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk and egg until just combined.
  4. Assemble the Pie: Spread half of the crust mixture into a greased pie pan. Carefully pour the beef mixture over the crust, then layer with shredded cheddar cheese and diced dill pickles. Spread the remaining crust mixture over the top.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Place the pie in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  6. Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing.
