  • 8 large eggs, preferably free-range
  • 2 cups whole milk or Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 2 cups grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley or chives)
  • 1 cup chopped vegetables (bell peppers, spinach, or broccoli)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread Base by cutting the crusty bread into 1-inch cubes and placing them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk the Eggs and Dairy by cracking the eggs and whisking them with milk or yogurt, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  3. Combine Ingredients by pouring the egg mixture over the bread cubes and folding gently.
  4. Add Vegetables and Cheese by mixing in your chopped vegetables and grated cheese of choice.
  5. Season with Fresh Herbs by sprinkling in the herbs and stirring gently.
  6. Refrigerate Overnight by transferring the mixture to a greased baking dish, covering it, and letting it sit overnight.
  7. Bake to Perfection by preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C) and baking for about 45 minutes until golden.
  8. Cool and Serve by allowing the casserole to cool for 10 minutes, then slicing and serving.
