  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tablespoons orange juice (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a sheet cake pan.
  2. Creaming together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in the orange juice and orange zest.
  5. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  6. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture gradually, mixing until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Mix the powdered sugar with orange juice to create the glaze.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake and allow it to set before slicing.

Notes

Store leftover cake in an airtight container for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Freeze slices for up to 3 months.
