  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  2. Creaming together the unsalted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Mix in the all-purpose flour and salt until a dough forms.
  4. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared dish and bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Combine the sweetened condensed milk and light brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat and cook until thickened.
  6. Let the caramel cool for an hour.
  7. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or over a double boiler.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator until set for about 1 hour before cutting into squares.
