A delightful twist on a classic dump cake with tangy lemon flavor and a creamy cheese layer.

Ingredients

  • 1 box lemon cake mix
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly in the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Prepare the lemon cake mix according to the package directions, substituting lemon juice for some water.
  5. Pour the lemon cake batter over the creamy layer in the baking dish.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
