Quick and satisfying Korean Beef Bowls that bring together sweet and savory flavors in a delightful dish, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet. In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
  2. Brown the beef. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Drain excess fat from the skillet to ensure your dish isn’t greasy.
  4. Combine flavors. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger into the skillet with the browned beef.
  5. Simmer the sauce. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly, creating a luscious coating on the beef.
  6. Serve over rice. Spoon the flavorful beef mixture generously over bowls of cooked rice, allowing the grains to soak up all that delicious sauce.
  7. Garnish perfectly. Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for an elegant touch.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version. Add red pepper flakes or sriracha for a spicy kick.
