A vibrant, fun dessert that combines the velvety softness of cake, the fresh pop of Jello, and the fluffy delight of whipped topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of cake mix (any flavor)
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup of Jello (any flavor)
  • 1 cup of boiling water
  • 1/2 cup of cold water
  • 1 tub of whipped topping
  • Fresh fruit (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven and prepare the cake mix. Preheat your oven to the temperature stated on your cake mix package. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix with 1 cup of water and the eggs. Blend according to the package instructions and pour the batter into a greased pan. Bake until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Cool the cake. Once baked, let your cake cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.
  3. Poke holes. Using a fork, poke holes all over the top of the cake, about 1 inch apart.
  4. Prepare the Jello mixture. In a separate bowl, dissolve the Jello in 1 cup of boiling water. Add the cold water and mix well.
  5. Pour the Jello over the cake, ensuring that it fills the holes.
  6. Refrigerate. Pop the cake in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours or until the Jello is fully set.
  7. Spread the whipped topping. Once the cake is set, generously spread the whipped topping over the entire cake.
  8. Garnish with fresh fruit. Optionally, add fresh fruit on top for decoration before serving.

Notes

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for about 3 to 4 days. Keep fruit toppings separate if added.
