A delightful and quick dish featuring shrimp, honey, and garlic, perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Whisk together until well blended.
  2. Marinate the Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
  3. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Allow the oil to get hot but not smoking.
  4. Sauté the Shrimp: Remove the shrimp from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off. Place the shrimp in the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink and start to caramelize.
  5. Flip and Finish Cooking: Turn the shrimp over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side, ensuring they are cooked through and have a slight char. If desired, pour in the remaining marinade during the last minute of cooking to create a glaze.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Once the shrimp are cooked, remove them from the heat. Transfer to a shallow dish and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve immediately while hot, either on their own or over a bed of rice or noodles to soak up the delicious sauce.

Notes

For variations, add citrus juice for a twist or substitute shrimp with tofu for a vegetarian option.
