Delightful homemade brookies combining cookie and brownie textures in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup brownie batter (prepared separately or from a box)
  • 1/2 cup cookie dough (prepared separately or from a box)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract together. Then mix in the egg until smooth.
  4. Combine the flour mixture with the buttery mixture until just combined. Then fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the cookie dough evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of brownie batter on top of the cookie dough.
  7. Swirl the two batters together gently with a knife if desired.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until soft in the middle but cooked around the edges.
  9. Cool in the baking dish before cutting into bars.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
