A wholesome twist on a classic comfort food, this Healthy BBQ Turkey Meatloaf is made with lean turkey and whole wheat breadcrumbs for a nutritious family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground turkey
  • 1 cup Whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (Plus more for topping)
  • 1/2 cup Diced onion
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Dried herbs (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the ground turkey, whole wheat breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, BBQ sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and dried herbs in a large bowl.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a loaf pan or on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Add more BBQ sauce on top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake it in the oven for 45 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with additional BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

Allow the meatloaf to rest before slicing to prevent sogginess. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for up to three months.
