Delightful green cookies with red hearts, perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 1 box vanilla cake mix (about 15.25 oz / 432 g)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1–2 tsp green gel food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for rolling)
  • Red heart sprinkles or small red candies (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Add the green gel food coloring to the dough, starting with 1 teaspoon. Mix well and add more until you achieve the desired color.
  4. Scoop out small spoonfuls of the dough and roll them into smooth balls.
  5. Roll each dough ball in powdered sugar to coat completely.
  6. Place the coated cookie dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 8–10 minutes, until the edges are set but the center remains soft.
  8. Press one red heart onto the warm cookie immediately after removing from the oven.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

Use gel food coloring for vibrant results and be careful not to overbake!
