  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter or oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pound a chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  3. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.
  4. Add a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each chicken breast.
  5. Roll the chicken tightly around the ham and cheese, securing with toothpicks if necessary.
  6. Dredge each rolled chicken breast in flour, dip in the beaten eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  7. Brown the chicken on all sides in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
  8. Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
  9. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before removing toothpicks and serving.

Notes

For a healthier version, skip the frying step and bake directly. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
