A homemade take on the classic General Tso’s Chicken, featuring crispy chicken in a sweet and spicy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces with soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil for 30 minutes.
  2. Dredge each piece of marinated chicken in cornstarch until well coated.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat and fry the chicken until golden and fully cooked.
  4. Sauté garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes in another pan until fragrant.
  5. Combine the fried chicken with the sautéed aromatics, tossing well to coat.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy texture. Marinating longer than 30 minutes can enhance flavor.
