Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh rosemary (optional)
  • Coarse sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and yeast in a mixing bowl. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine the olive oil, salt, and flour into the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered with a cloth, for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Shape the focaccia by punching down the dough and spreading it onto a greased baking sheet, making dimples in the surface with your fingers.
  7. Add toppings of minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, and fresh rosemary (if using). Sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
