Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.
  2. Mix the egg, milk, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; lumps are fine.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drizzle the batter into the hot oil in circular motions to form small bites.
  6. Fry the bites for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown, turning them halfway through.
  7. Remove the bites with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These bites are best enjoyed fresh out of the fryer. For leftovers, store in an airtight container and reheat in the oven or air fryer.
