  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 loaf of bread (challah or brioche), cubed
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Fresh berries (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon in a large bowl.
  3. Combine the cubed bread with the egg mixture and stir gently to soak the bread.
  4. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Drizzle the maple syrup over the top of the mixture.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
  7. Cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries if desired.

Notes

For best results, use challah or brioche bread for their soft texture. Assemble the casserole the night before for an effortless breakfast.
