A classic Ermine Frosting that’s rich yet light with a silky texture, ideal for cakes and cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the milk and flour until smooth.
  2. Cook the milk and flour mixture over medium heat until it thickens to a pudding-like consistency.
  3. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Combine the cooled flour mixture with the butter and sugar until creamy.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Decorate your cakes or cupcakes with the frosting.

Notes

Make sure to let your flour mixture cool completely to avoid melting the butter when mixing. If the frosting is too soft, refrigerate it for a few minutes.
