  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Small tortillas (corn or flour)
  • Shredded lettuce or cabbage
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded cheese
  • Sour cream or crema
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Place chicken in the slow cooker.
  2. Add salsa and broth.
  3. Incorporate the tomato paste and spices.
  4. Stir to combine.
  5. Let it cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
  6. Shred the chicken using two forks.
