Delicious and fluffy dinner rolls made from sourdough starter discard, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter discard
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast

Instructions

  1. Combine the sourdough starter discard, warm water, and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. Add the melted butter, salt, and instant yeast, mixing until fully combined.
  3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and shape it into rolls. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover and let rise again until puffy, about 30-45 minutes.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter before serving.

Notes

Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
