Delightful soft sugar cookies that are perfect for any occasion, easy to make, and always bring a smile.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  5. Roll dough into balls and coat in granulated sugar before placing on ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of almond extract with the vanilla. Roll cookies in colored sugar for holidays.
