A homemade crispy chicken sandwich featuring tender marinated chicken with a crunchy coating, fresh lettuce, and a spicy mayo sauce.

  • 1 pound chicken breast
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 leaves of lettuce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 2 hours.
  2. Prepare the flour mixture by mixing flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
  3. Heat enough oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture.
  5. Fry the coated chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  6. Make the sauce by mixing mayonnaise and hot sauce in a small bowl.
  7. Toast the hamburger buns in the same pan until golden brown.
  8. Assemble the sandwich with the bottom bun, crispy chicken, lettuce, spicy mayo, and top bun.

Notes

Serve with fries or coleslaw. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
