A soft, slightly sweet loaf perfect for slathering with butter or making delightful sandwiches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix the sweet ingredients: Once the yeast is bubbly, add the condensed milk, sugar, melted butter, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
  3. Gradually incorporate the flour: Add the flour gradually, mixing until a soft but not overly sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the loaf: Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf.
  7. Second rise: Transfer to a greased bread pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake the bread: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool and slice: Remove from oven and let cool before slicing.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or vanilla extract. Ensure your water is warm, not hot, to protect the yeast.
