A comforting and hearty dish that brings family and friends together, featuring layers of rich meat, creamy cheeses, and delicious sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 jars marinara sauce (about 24 ounces each)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and sausage. Cook until browned and then drain the excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese, eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. To assemble, spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, then spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture.
  7. Add 1/4 of the mozzarella cheese and 1/4 of the meat sauce. Repeat the layers (noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, sauce) two more times.
  8. Finally, top with the remaining noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  11. Let it stand for 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.

Notes

Use a mix of ground meats for a richer flavor. Let the lasagna rest after baking to help the layers set.
