Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 ¼ cups whole milk
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter (for topping)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare an 8 x 4-inch loaf pan with nonstick spray.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
  4. Gently combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 60–70 minutes.
  6. Cool the bread for 10 minutes in the pan, then coat it with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Notes

For a chocolate twist, add mini chocolate chips. Substitute gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option. Store leftovers at room temperature for up to 3 days.
