Delightful churros that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served with rich chocolate sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Boil the Base: In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Combine & Create Dough: Once the water has come to a boil, stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Mix vigorously until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan and forms a ball.
  3. Cool & Blend: Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes. Then, add in 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, mixing until everything is well blended and smooth.
  4. Heat the Oil: While your dough is resting, heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to about 350°F (175°C).
  5. Pipe & Fry: With a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle, pipe strips of dough directly into the hot oil. Fry the churros until they are golden brown, flipping them halfway through for even cooking.
  6. Create Chocolate Bliss: For the chocolate sauce, heat 1 cup of heavy cream in a saucepan until just about to simmer. Remove from heat and pour over 1 cup of chocolate chips. Stir until smooth.
  7. Serve with Joy: Once your churros are perfectly crispy, remove them from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Serve them warm with your chocolate sauce.

Notes

Churros are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in an oven to restore crispiness.
