  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, ensuring each one is well incorporated.
  4. Combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl; gradually blend this into the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Let the cookies cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks.
