Deliciously warm and gooey chocolate chip cookies that will make you nostalgic for family baking days.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour and baking soda in a small bowl, and set it aside.
  3. Combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
  5. Gradually mix the flour mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
  7. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes if desired (optional).
  8. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown but centers remain soft.
  10. Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients and check that your baking soda is fresh.
