A simple and delicious chocolate cake that is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, measure ingredients accurately, and use high-quality cocoa powder. Don’t forget the boiling water for moisture!
