A decadent Nutella chocolate cake filled with rich chocolate flavor and topped with luxurious Nutella frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl: all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the wet ingredients: eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix until everything is well combined and smooth.
  4. Incorporate the boiling water carefully into the batter, giving it a thin consistency.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Prepare the frosting by combining Nutella and heavy cream in a bowl; whisk until smooth and fluffy.
  9. Frost the first layer with Nutella frosting, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.
  10. Decorate as desired and slice to serve.

Notes

Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting. Can be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
