  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients to make your cooking experience smooth and enjoyable.
  2. Marinate the beef in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and cornstarch for about 10 minutes.
  3. Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat until shimmering.
  4. Sauté the sliced onions until they are soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Push the onions to the side, add minced garlic, and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  6. Cook the marinated beef in the wok in a single layer, resist stirring for the first 1-2 minutes.
  7. Combine the beef with the onions, drizzle in sesame oil, and continue cooking until beef is fully cooked, about 3-4 minutes.
  8. Serve hot over rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped scallions.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to avoid overcooking the beef.
