A creamy and cheesy orzo dish packed with chicken sausage and vibrant broccoli, perfect for busy weeknights or cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the chicken sausage in olive oil over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  2. Sauté the onion and garlic in the same pan until the onion is translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Toast the orzo by adding it to the pan and stirring for 2 minutes.
  4. Combine everything by pouring in the chicken broth and adding broccoli. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 8-10 minutes.
  5. Mix in the chicken sausage, Parmesan cheese, and oregano, stirring until the cheese melts.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
