A classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy breaded chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up your breading station with three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and a mix of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, dip in the egg, and coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken breasts until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  6. Spread a layer of marinara sauce in a baking dish, place the fried chicken on top, and cover with more marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Make sure to use freshly grated Parmesan for a richer taste. You can substitute cheese for provolone or gouda for a different flavor.
