Chicken Biscuits Gravy

A warm and comforting dish that combines tender chicken with rich gravy served over flaky biscuits.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter and mix until coarse crumbs form.
  4. Stir in the milk until a slightly sticky dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough gently on a floured surface.
  6. Roll out the dough to about half an inch thick and cut out biscuits.
  7. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Whisk together the chicken broth and flour in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened.
  9. Add the shredded chicken and season with salt and black pepper, simmering for a few minutes.
  10. Serve the warm biscuits topped with chicken gravy.

Notes

For a spicier variation, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the gravy. Store leftovers separately in airtight containers.
