A comforting and easy casserole that combines the flavors of a juicy cheeseburger with crispy fries and melted cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup mustard (optional)
  • ½ cup pickle relish or chopped pickles
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 24 oz bag frozen French fries
  • ½ cup cooked bacon bits (optional)
  • Chopped parsley or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef and diced onion in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add minced garlic, salt, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard (if using), and pickle relish. Stir and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese followed by cheddar cheese over the beef.
  6. Layer the frozen French fries evenly over the cheese.
  7. Scatter cooked bacon bits over the fries (optional).
  8. Bake uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes, until fries are golden brown.
  9. Cool for about 5 minutes, then garnish with parsley or green onions.
  10. Serve with your favorite condiments.

Notes

Customize the recipe by adding your favorite vegetables or swapping the cheese. Leftover casserole can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
