A comforting cheeseburger casserole that brings the essence of backyard barbecues into your kitchen, perfect for busy weeknights or gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 2 cups uncooked pasta (elbows or preferred shape)
  • 3 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or blend)
  • 2 to 3 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • Optional toppings: diced pickles, extra ketchup, mustard, or sliced tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 °F (175 °C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef along with the finely chopped onion in a large skillet over medium heat until browned.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, onion powder, mustard, and ketchup. Let it simmer briefly.
  4. Boil salted water and cook your preferred pasta until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  5. Whisk together the milk and eggs in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  6. Combine the cooked pasta and beef mixture with the milk-egg concoction. Stir well.
  7. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish, top with shredded cheese, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  8. Cool slightly before serving and add your favorite toppings.

Notes

Store leftovers tightly covered in the fridge for 3 to 4 days, or freeze before baking for up to 2 months.
