Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Knead gently a few times until it comes together.
  6. Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
  7. Cut out your biscuits using a biscuit cutter.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm with butter, honey, or jam.

Notes

Use cold butter and buttermilk for flakiness. Avoid overworking the dough.
