A classic dessert featuring layers of fluffy cake, silky vanilla pudding, and glossy chocolate ganache.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for chocolate ganache)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy in another bowl.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire racks.
  8. Whip 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form, then mix in the instant vanilla pudding.
  9. Place one layer of cake on a serving plate and spread the creamy pudding mixture on top.
  10. Gently place the second layer of cake on top.
  11. Heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream until nearly boiling, pour it over the chopped chocolate, and stir until smooth.
  12. Pour the ganache over the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides, and let it set before slicing.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or fresh berries. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
