  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup of caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup of whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 1/2 cup of toffee bits (such as Heath Bar bits)
  • Optional: chocolate syrup for drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Combine the chocolate cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and water in a bowl. Mix thoroughly until you have a smooth batter.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to evenly spread the batter.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  5. Poke holes all over the surface using a fork while the cake is still warm.
  6. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes. Follow with caramel sauce.
  7. Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips and toffee bits evenly on top.
  8. Cool completely in the baking dish.
  9. Spread the whipped topping over the entire surface of the cake.
  10. Drizzle chocolate syrup over the whipped topping if desired.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to meld.
  12. Cut into squares and serve chilled.

For best results, add sweetened condensed milk while the cake is still warm for maximum absorption.
