A classic and creamy banana pudding layered with sweet bananas, crunchy vanilla wafers, and fluffy whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1 box vanilla wafers

Instructions

  1. Combine the milk, sugar, flour, and salt in a medium saucepan. Mix them together thoroughly before placing them over medium heat.
  2. Cook continuously stirring as the mixture heats up until it thickens beautifully.
  3. Temper the egg yolks in a separate bowl, then gradually add a few spoonfuls of the hot milk mixture to them.
  4. Pour the tempered eggs back into the saucepan with the pudding mix and stir well until the desired thickness is reached.
  5. Add the vanilla extract to the thickened pudding and mix well.
  6. Assemble the layers by starting with vanilla wafers, then sliced bananas, and pouring warm pudding over the top. Repeat layers.
  7. Top the final layer with whipped cream for a light finish.
  8. Chill the assembled pudding in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set.

Notes

For best results, use ripe bananas and allow for proper chilling time. Customize with different wafers or fruits as preferred.
