Delightful cinnamon rolls infused with the classic flavors of banana bread, topped with a creamy frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  2. Combine the mashed bananas, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter in a large mixing bowl. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the bowl, mixing until fully incorporated.
  4. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the banana mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
  6. Make the filling by combining the ground cinnamon and brown sugar in a small bowl.
  7. Roll out the banana bread dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
  8. Spread the melted butter over the rolled-out dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture evenly on top.
  9. Roll the dough into a log starting from one side, pinching the edges to seal.
  10. Slice the roll into 1-inch thick pieces and place them in the prepared baking dish, spacing them evenly apart.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  12. Prepare the frosting by whisking together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth.
  13. Drizzle the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls after they cool slightly.

Notes

For added texture, mix in optional nuts or chocolate chips. Make sure bananas are ripe for maximum flavor.
